Asphalt Paver Operator

**MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE - please do not apply if you have no experience operating a paver**

Reporting to the foreman, the Paver Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Asphalt Paver. Qualifications that are required: 

• Safely operate the Asphalt Paver and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manor
• Knowledge of asphalt mix applications on variable types of projects which include parking lots, residential subdivisions, collector and arterial roadways and highway projects

• Operate the Paver controls to lower the screed auger, control the hopper, and navigate the direction of the paver.

• Align the paving machine into position when receiving asphalt by dump truck, and maintain constant flow of asphalt into hopper; ease paver forward, safely pushing dump truck along construction surface.

• Observe distribution of paving materials along screed and control the direction of the screed to eliminate voids at curbs and joints.

• Line paver appropriately to the work area, and ensure proper application of the asphalt, smoothing it evenly to the desired height, width, and depth

• Operate other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required.

• Perform daily pretrip inspections and safety checks to identify potential mechanical issues and advise the foreman
• Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety program, including taking part in all safety meetings
• Comfortable working long hours, including possible weekend work and night shifts
• Hard working, physically fit and able to lift 20lbs or more

Requirements: 

• Minimum 2-3 years experience operating an asphalt paver
• Minimum 2-3 years paving experience working on a paving crew
• Has own transportation to and from work
• CSA approved steel toed work boots
• Any safety certifications considered an asset
