Class 1 Tandem Operator

Reporting to the foreman, the Class 1 Tandem Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Tandem.  The Operator will be responsible for delivering the asphalt equipment to worksites, including the loading and unloading of heavy equipment.   We offer our employees competitive wages (paid weekly), on-the-job training, health and dental benefits, as well as life insurance, an excellent opportunity for professional growth and more!

Certifications Requirements:

• Alberta License - Class 1 Certification
• Air Brake (Z) Endorsement

Responsibilities:

• Load / unload and transport asphalt heavy equipment, ensuring equipment is properly strapping down to ensure safety and road worthiness
• Load / unload materials to each job site (asphalt, gravel)
• Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and loaded, ensuring safety and road worthiness
• Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver’s hours, occupational health and safety regulations
• Perform pre-trip vehicle inspection to ensure mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Maintain daily logs, inspection logs and other necessary paperwork.
• Perform duties safely around mobile equipment and have a high sense of safety awareness while performing work
• Other duties as required

• Material Haul Card

Requirements: 

• 3-5 years' experience operating tandem's and hauling heavy equipment
• 2-3 year's experience in the road construction industry (hauling asphalt)
• Valid clean class 1 driver’s license
• Has own transportation to and from work
• Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements
• Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry 30lbs
• CSA approved steel toed work boots 
• Willing to work overtime, as required
• Safety certifications considered an asset
